The Daily Programme

Residents at Recovery Home learn to spend their day in a structured way with activities ranging from counseling, reading, writing and group discussions besides recreational time.

The day starts with a session of Yoga, with half an hour each of exercise and meditation. After bath and breakfast, a counselor conducts a Reading session, in which AA and NA literature is read aloud one by one. This is followed by a Writing session, in which residents answer certain questions designed to make them think and introspect.

It is then time for the Input session, one of the most important module in the programme, in which the counselor takes up vital issues related to addiction and recovery in a classroom type of setting. 

Residents can relax -- sleep or play indoor games -- for a couple of hours after lunch, before a Discussion session. Finally, everyone reassembles in the evening for a mock AA/NA meeting. Some residents may also be escorted to an actual AA/NA meeting for a first-hand experience.

 The daily schedule is thus as follows:

 7-7.30 am: Morning tea

7.30-8.30 am: Yoga

9.30 am: Breakfast (Eggs, milk, fruits

10 am: Reading session

11 am: Writing session

12 noon: Input session

1 pm: Lunch

4 pm: Discussion session

5-7 pm: Games, hobbies

7 pm: Meeting

8.30 pm: Dinner

10.00: Light out
